The Red Sea Film Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization created to support the film industry in Saudi Arabia in the production, distribution and education of cinema.  Established in 2018 by the Kingdom's first Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Farhan Al Saud an, the Red Sea Foundation's official mandate is to promote film culture in Saudi. The initiatives support the ambitious plans for Saudi in the entertainment industries as part of Saudi Vision 2030, with its pillars of a vibrant society, an ambitious nation and thriving economy.

In pursuit of these objectives, the Foundation oversees The Red Sea International Film Festival, The Red Sea Signature Programs and The Red Sea Archives. The Red Sea International Film Festival, which takes place in Jeddah’s historic old town, highlights both the richness and unifying experience of the seventh art. It brings the best in world cinema to the Kingdom, and showcases Saudi and Arab filmmaking talent for an inspiring event, that is a meeting point for all cultures, where ideas and opinions are shared and developed. The Red Sea Signature Programs contribute to the entire filmmaking ecosystem, from development to funding to distribution,  through year-round labs and film programmes that nurtures new talent and creates films with international potential and filmmaking partnerships. The Signature Programs establish a strong, robust film culture that will be at the heart of Arab cinema fostering voices that will delight generations to come.

The Red Sea Foundation encourages cultural bridges and partnerships, greater cooperation and understanding through cinema and the promotion of  the filmmaking talent that exists in KSA and the Arab World.

The Red Sea International Film Festival brings the best in Arab and World Cinema to Jeddah Old Town. The Festival showcases exciting new films on the Saudi big screen, alongside retrospective programs celebrating the masters of cinema, the latest Saudi films, and feature and short film competitions. There are also industry events and workshops nurturing the next generation of talent.

Welcoming filmmakers, film lovers, and industry professionals from around the globe, the Festival is the biggest celebration of cinema culture in the Arab gulf.
